Berks Encore Needs Your Help!
Meals On Wheels
We have the meals, but we need your wheels to help deliver Meals On Wheels throughout Berks County, but especially in the city of Reading, the Topton and Fleetwood areas, and the Douglassville and Morgantown areas. You can serve as little as once a month, or as often as once a week - or even be an "on call" volunteer in the event someone is ill.
With all that is happening in the world today, and the fact that many must cut back on their charitable giving during this time of economic stress, here is a fantastic way for you and your place of business to give back - and all it costs you is your time! Most of these routes can be completed in the space of one hour. One hour, once a week - or once a month - that's all it takes.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
We are seeking qualified volunteers from January through April to volunteer for the VITA program. The VITA program offers free tax preparation services to help low to moderate income people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. Training is provided as well as onsite support. We are looking for tax preparers, schedulers, intake personnel, and quality reviewers.

APPRISE Insurance Counselors
Through the APPRISE Program, trained staff and volunteers offer assistance with their insurance related needs. We are in need of volunteers to answer phone calls, or input data during Medicares Open Enrollment period in November and December. We would also like people to help out with rent and property tax rebates and economic stimulus rebate filings. All training is provided, as well as onsite support.

Home Visitation Volunteers
Berks Encore would like to start a home visitation program to alleviate some of the isolation that is being felt by homebound seniors throughout the county. We would like volunteers to simply take an hour or so to sit and visit with a homebound senior, have a cup of coffee, and let them know that somebody is thinking about them today. Youll be glad that you did!

Center Volunteers
Berks Encore is always looking for volunteers interested in helping out in one of our senior centers. We have 7 centers located throughout the county and are in need of greeters, people to do data entry, or help out with center programming.
